Fashion (waste) Management
Catalogues when beautifully produced using great fashion images are undoubtedly extremely useful as a selling aid. Unfortunately time and time again companies who spend huge amounts of money on these productions don’t put enough thought into them and if they arrive into our showroom (and they do by the box load) and do not enhance the clothing then they are consigned to our huge recycling bin. The same goes for invitations which often show and say nothing, as well as show cards and samples that can’t be used by anyone. The amount of waste is nothing short of scandalous. We spent a huge amount of time and resources today bemoaning the fact that we are adding to the worlds enormous rubbish heap.
This is a time when all companies whether fashion are not should take a long hard look at what and how they produce as PR material. There is only one thing that matters in the world of fashion and it all hinges on Product Product Product. Presentation matters and It’s my job as an agent to make sure that it is done in a most professional and effective way. As we filled the umpteenth black sack and removed labels on clothing that we could hand into the charity shops we reflected that if this is what our small business was generating in terms of waste how much more was out there in the wider and much larger fashion world?
