2010 and the big Clearout Looms
Driving back from the New Year Celebrations in beautiful crisp frosty clear Kilkenny and wrapped up in my warmest Winter woollies, complete with hat, scarf and the all important red leather gloves I was reminding myself of the work piling up on my desk in my showroom in town. Too much country air has me craving the buzz of city life and even the travel in the next weeks. (I’m sure as I sit and wait in Heathrow for the umpteenth flight home I will be thinking fondly of the Irish countryside) .
I’m truly fed up now of the looking back at the noughties and am craving some good old fashioned well written and thought out fashion journalism and will take a serious look at the January editions of the major glossies. One job that I am going to tackle soon is the ‘Big Wardrobe Clearout’. I can’t profess to being some super efficient fashion expert at this particular job though I have done it for others and when you aren’t emotionally attached to clothes it seems a doddle. Logical decisions regarding fashion mistakes are easy and new outfits can be put together with alarming ease. My fashion guru friend Deryn Kahn (Kahn Boutique) does this as a service to her regular customers so I might have to enlist her help on this one as my wardrobe and accompanying rails and cupboards are bulging to the seams. I wonder if she will send my yellow satin party shoes (that I’ve never worn) with ‘lets’ appliqued on the left and ‘dance’ on the right foot to the big black sac?!!
I’m looking forward to new transitional collections hitting the shops as we may need a little refreshment in the wardrobe area shortly. Nothing too drastic mind, perhaps a nod to the nautical or some lovely nude and pastel colours creeping their way in?
This is one that I made earlier!
