An Bailitheoir Cnamh – The Bone Collector

Nicky Harris, January 19, 2010

I was going to write a completely different blog today focusing on ‘want versus need’ and our changing buying patterns in our new reality. Then I watched Alexander Mc Queens Menswear Show 2010 today 19th January and I found myself mesmerised. Firstly the Irish which I’m ashamed to say took me some minutes to translate and then my curiosity went into fully engaged mode.
Mc Queen digging into his Celtic routes ( he is Scottish) and Sting singing a song called Soul Cake was reminiscent of aseafarer with the cool models melting into the background, their ice print suits all strictly cut. The show is in an intimate setting. Rugged chunky knits would take any man across miles of ice and snow. Much more ephemeral than the Burberry show this was pure imagination thrown together within the art of the Designers imagination.
