Scarves head for the future
On lots of the Spring Summer catwalks one trend kept cropping up as seen at Hermes and MiuMiu. Scarves tied in several different ways. Small squares tied bandana style, large squares twisted and tied around the neck and long scarves just draped. This is one super way to do prints without looking like a top to toe flower pot. I’m all in favour of investing in scarves as a general rule. They are easy to keep and store, they can change an otherwise simple outfit and can often pull a whole look together.
Last week when I popped into Boutique Belle in Ashford I was really happy to see Susannagh Grogan scarves on sale. I met Susannagh when last year when she was exhibiting at the craft fair and her designs stood way out in a sea of mediocrity. Susannagh is a very talented and experienced print designer. Her CV reads like a who’s who of the fashion world. Among the long list are Peter O’Brien, Tommy Hilfiger, Liz Claibourne and Victoria’s secret.
Her scarves are simply works of art and each comes with a beautiful quotation. The silk is beautifully handrolled and has that substantial, sumptious feel. The large ones are €120 and the smaller €59. I hear that Susannagh is featured on Xpose one day this week. Definitely worth looking out for…
