‘Got to Dance’ comes back to Dublin
As a child, Ballet classes were held in Miss Birchalls Ballet school on St Stephens Green. Two little dogs were wrapped up in a basket with a hot water bottle while I froze in my leotard and ballet shoes (which had to have the ribbons tied just so). I towered above my fellow ballerina’s and was consigned to the back row but I still loved it and read Noel Streatfield’s book Ballet Shoes over and over. Ballroom was facinating to watch and this was way before Bruce Forsyth and Strictly Come Dancing.
I have only to hear a good beat than I am bopping around the house, once falling and breaking my wrist while waltzing with a babe in arms in my kitchen!
Last year an Irish Dance group ‘Raw Edge’ reached the semi-finals of Sky TV’s ‘Got to Dance ‘ competition hosted by Davina McCall who I love, especially since she wears Jaeger London and always looks great. Got To Dance is back for a second series and with the prize money at £250,000 ( I make that nearly €300,000!) there is every reason to audition. If you love to dance and have any ability and do it in any style, Tango or Tap, Street or Salsa, if you do it solo or in a group and are in the age bracket 2-92 and you want to be in with a chance, start dancing.
It would be fantastic if the Irish were up there in the mix so get on your dancing shoes. The auditions are taking place in Dublin on the 14 th August. Just click here to apply to Sky. I’ll be there at the preliminary rounds tapping my feet and blogging and can’t wait.
