Tags: , , — Nicky Harris, November 16, 2010

Here’s the story, Rob and Elena from Lady Umbrella T- Shirt company and me had a little tete a tete and came up with what we all think is a great idea for a competition. I wanted to know how I could wear one of their gorgeous T’s on Christmas day so I thought maybe we could gather some ideas and so the Style Test was born. I want you to tell me how I can wear a Lady Umbrella T- Shirt, suitable for Christmas Day shenanegans, festive cheer, and of course Christmas dinner en famile. You have one week to come up with some ideas. One of my VBFF’s (that’s fashion friends) Stylist and style icon, Maria Fusco is going to be the judge. So I’ll give you a tip, think glamour!

The winner will get a Lady Umbrella T-Shirt (which are so adorable that if you don’t win you will just have to buy one), Runner Up Prize is a gorgeous Lady Umbrella Bag

Entries can be on this site or on my FaceBook nickysragtales page, which ever you prefer.

  2. I would love the Lady Umbrella Wise Owl tshirt. It’s something I’ve wanted for a few months now but haven’t bought it because I would just love to save it for Christmas. It’s such a good winter representative and it’s not often you can say that about a Tshirt. The baby powder blue colour reminds me of ice and snow while owls have always reminded me of Christmas for some reason!

I would team this gorgeous Tshirt with a black sequin jacket and a pair of black leggings for warmth – over which I would put a darling black tutu style skirt that flairs out like a bad xmas fairy. Add some killer heeled biker boots to the mix and I’m ready to go! Styling it up Christmas Eve pubbing in my little village!

  3. I’d pick the chicken or the umbrella shirt. wear it over a long sleeved black tee. add some patterned leggings or tights in gray, yellow and maybe a pale blue, and a black mini. then do a gray or black suede bootie. ;)

  4. “Lady Umbrella & her Christmas sparkle”
For Christmas, everyone needs a little sparkle combined with a little glammer so I would go with a black low-ish v neck t shirt, with a faux necklace made from diamonte sparkle (just a little though!) and a picture at the bottom of Lady Umbrella opening a mountain of gifts under the tree! It would be great if the pic at the bottom could link with the faux necklace – being one of the fab gifts she receives!

  5. I’d love to have a Christmas that’s laid back,
That why I’d wear LadyUmbrella and the Umbrella Tree Small tee shirt.
I’d add silvery leggings to show off the glitter of Christmas. I’d wear blue earrings and a blue bracelet with a blue stone necklace.
Then I’d wear my favourite trainers because I’ll be rushing about the house cooking for everyone. I’ll be comfortable but glammed up to the nines and I’ll finish it off with a hint of Chanel No 5.

  9. Well I would have to start with the Mona LadyUmbrella as its just the most devine vest Ive ever seen! I think its crying out for a touch of festive red so I’d style it up with a full red tulle skirt I made myself, the tulle is much softer than net so more comfy for sitting in… and has an elastic waist which of course we all know is essential for Christmas dinner!
A soft velvet blazer would compliment the scalloped edges on the t-shirt design, and nothing’s more festive than a touch of velvet.
To accessorize the look I would add a killer cocktail ring that blinds with its sparkle and heavy, oversized earings. I would have to opt for my favourite pair of biker boots… unless Santa delivers some red soles:)! Them I’d wear them!
Complete the look with a slick of red lipstick and a messy bun. x

  16. I put together a visual look with polyvore here-

    http://www.polyvore.com/lady_umbrella_wise_owl/set?id=25055783

I wanted to keep this classic, casual, yet semi-sophisticated.

I chose the Own tee because the neckline is a bit more formal that a simple crew neck, the color will pop great with a black palette, and the print is easy to show off with a jacket or sweater on top.

I paired the tee with a pair of simple black shorts and some really cool printed tights. I love that you can still pull off shorts in the winter if you wear them with tights, and printed tights are so cool!

I also added an oversized black cardigan, this one specifically has a little “bling” to it which I think is super cute!

Show wise, I definitely thought some cute boots for the winter would be best. I like the idea of knee-high boots because then you’ll just get the small little pop of the printed tights rather than having the outfit bet totally overpowered by them. Wouldn’t want to lose that tee!

The outfit doesn’t really NEED jewelry because of the extra shine on the cardigan, but I would probably layer some silver chains anyway. Simple and clean!

Bag wise, you could go black… but I’d want a little color so I’d probably go red.

Simple, classic, and chic for the holidays =]

  17. My idea is to wear the T- shirt above with either black jeans and some winter comfortable gray boots maybe a little fake fur on top as it’s winter! We get lots of snow so a nice scarf would set if off. Maybe gray with sparkles to accent the outfit with a nice comfortable velvet black/red/gray blazer than can be worn inside and can also worn under a winter coat. Make up would be for party so bring on the lashes but not overdone and a light red lipstick and some body sparkles. It would be cool to wear some some Lady Umbrella Christmas earnings that dangle. You could make ahead and they would be the talk of the party! They need to sparkle in the light there are good artist can do this or make them from the buttons. You would not only shine and look like a star, but also be promoting who you are! Good Luck at the party all are good ideas! Main thing Have fun!

  22. Match up your t shirt with a pair of black pants and some cute boots. Alittle bling, not too much and some nice soft make up. You don’t want to go overboard. Less is more these days. Have a great time at the party and people will still be talking about how great you looked into 2011. Have a great time!

  23. I’d do a look that can be on from day to night:
    *Top:Lady Umbrella Likes to strut
*Skirt:A lace mini or midi skirt (like this: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=14904820) but in black.
    *Black leather ballerina shoes
    *Black short leather jacket
    *Rose-pink lace headband(like this: http://www.knitpicks.com/kpimages/regular/50653220.jpg).

Makeup wise I’d use bright red lipstick and black eyeliner.
And pearl earrings on the ears would be the only accessory.

  29. I think you should wear the T-Shirt depending on your personality at Christmas!
If you’re feeling cozy and want to wrap up, I’d say opt for some shiny leggings with a black and gold military cardigan for the glamour and loosely laced black Doc Martens. Then blowdry your hair naturally, some clear lipgloss and a dusting of your favourite perfume to finish it off.
But…if you’re up for a party, I would team the Tee with skinny black jeans (ultra cool but very comfortable) a sequinned or embellished black or any metallic coloured cropped jacket, although a black faux fur gilet would work just as well. Vampy eye make up, your favourite lipstick, dramatic volume hair and the highest black suede or patent stilettos you can get your hands on…
You’re going to look absolutely amazing if you follow any of the entries here!
