I don’t always like the recent trend of fashion meets ‘whatever having yourself’ in order to boost sales and some very dodgy collaborations have been everywhere over the past few years so it’s lovely to see one that it is both good to look at and sure to be a huge success.
What do you get when you cross the Iconic Italian Car manufacturer,Fiat with Gucci, one of the top Fashion Houses in Italy? A new baby was launched at Milan Fashion Week, the Fiat 500 by Gucci in two fabulous versions. It was conceived and designed to celebrate the 150 thAnniversary of the unification of Italy and Gucci’s 90th Anniversary. In reality any excuse would do and injecting Gucci style into the perfect small car, the Fiat 500 is an example of a great collaboration.
The first car that I can remember was my mothers cream coloured Fiat 500 and sitting in the front seat aged six. My sister (age 4) who was beside me (the two of us squashed on the seat) fell forwards and bumped her forehead on the dashboard where the key was positioned. The key snapped in two and we sat and waited for hours for a man to come to help get the remains of the key out, while my sister nursed a big bruise! Oh how times have changed.
Todays Fiat 500 by Gucci comes in two fabulous colour and design versions and two engine types. The economical 1.2 litre and the 0.9 litre Twin Air engine. While engine sizes may be important information it is the design with obvious Gucci input that has me loving this car and I would be very happy heading to town with either the black edgy or white sophisticated version.
The Fiat 500 by Gucci will be available in the UK to purchase on-line where you can pay a deposit, track your car and have it delivered to your home. Just go to Fiat.co.uk for more information and to register for updates.
