The organisers of Ennis Fashion Week are holding a Fashion show next week on the 18th March. It’s being held  in Glor with pre- show drinks and exhibition stands, tickets are 25euro each.  Proceeds are going to The Haven Partnership for Haiti which has been working building houses in Haiti for the past nine years and which has risen to meet the huge challenge following the devastating earthquake.
To tie in with the Fashion Show and to raise  as much money as possible  Kate Winslet’s Prada bag plus the signed poster which arrived yesterday are up for grabs.

The Prada bag will be raffled at the Fashion Show.  For 20euro  per entry you hand in your  mobile number  and you can enter as many times as you want.  One number will be drawn at the end of the evening and whoever gets the call gets to bag the bag!     Bidding starts at 9.00am on Thursday 11th March  for the poster and ends on the 18th March. Heidi’s dresses are easy to wear during the day yet certainly stylish enough to go to any special event.  They are cut as only experienced designers can cut and the fabrics are the very best from around the world.  By visiting Heidi’s studio you can find out a little of what goes into the design process.

Working in beautifully cut fabrics using striking colours of Jade,  Blackberry purple, hot pink, Lemon and Ocean Blue  and providing a bespoke service at reasonable prices adds up to a really fantastic range of dresses and Jackets for this Spring Summer.  I have already picked my Summer Dress from the collection which appeals to my Mad Men fixation and which Heidi will make a little longer for me.   I  also loved the great selection of fabulously practical work wear/laptop bags from Penelope & Parker in luxury leather  which are also on sale.

The train ride from Dublin was a very comfortable hour long journey and the Boutique/Studio which houses Heidi’s full collection is a stones throw from the train station.   Here are some of the pictures I managed to take before we all headed around the corner  to  Jim’s Country Kitchen to listen to live music, sip prosecco and eat some tasty morsels.  It’s a hard life this Fashion Business !!!!

Today my coffee table is full of Vogue, Pop and Love Magazine and the Spring Summer Elle Collections.  The novel I’ve just started is Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantell and I’m listening to The Road by Cormac Mc Carthy on my Iphone (while travelling).

2.  Until the Mid 90’s Milan was the heart and centre of power of all the Fashion Capitals of the world.  It seems as if this is certainly not true any more.   Anna Wintour cut short the amount of time she spent there, more like a Fashion  long week-end than a week! 4.  Closer to home,  Paula Rowan had a fantastic launch of her Spring Summer Leather Shoes, Gloves and Bag collections last Thursday.  Among the guests were Deirdre Mc Quillan, Richard Lewis, Eddie Shanahan and Barry Egan.  There were over 200 people there who ate drank and were definitely merry… My interview with Paula will be uploaded in the next day or two so you can take a look for yourself.

Bow Tie by Jack Kirwan

I can’t pass an art gallery without looking in the window and I was stopped in my tracks today on Dublin’s Clarendon Street.  The Keeling Gallery run by Vincent Keeling has some really great paintings and prints but it was a collection of bow ties painted in acrylic by Jack Kirwan and costing 65 euro each that really stood out.

So now I can wear an original work of art on my neck and with a white shirt, tuxedo and black pants I’ll be a work of walking art myself!
