I had an interesting disussion over coffee yesterday with one of Irelands ex top models, business woman Asheena Naidoo and Maria Fusco, Irelands top Stylist and my good friend. Asheena arguing that she was already fed up with Facebook and Twitter and was reverting back to old-fashioned methods of doing business. Maria and I who are a good deal older are both avid users of the new platforms and so the discussion reached interesting levels of passion and debate. I do agree with Asheena when she says that Facebook is too much about marketing and selling and is losing it’s sociability. The generation who grew up with FB and Twitter are already getting fed up with it… a fickle lot. What we all wondered would be next?
Maria Fusco at the River Island Preview Day today
I heard my name being called and turned around at 3.30 am last Saturday morning to find my darling friend ‘Ireland’s Top Fashion Stylist’ Maria Fusco behind me. Looking gorgeous and fresh (even at that hour) the light was pretty dim mind you! I noticed she was wearing fox fur cuffs which looked oh so chi chi as only Maria can.
The last few seasons have seen fur creeping onto the catwalks again but for next Autumn watch out for it to hit the big time. Seen to best effect in Milan with Prada and Gucci it came in all types, styles and colours. I suggest the Animal activists should start collecting together their old banners because I predict fur to fly. Maria and I will be wearing our fur especially if it’s a cold Winter and we make no apologies. Mine is my Mums Siberian fox jacket circa 1970.
When I met my friend the Stylist, designer and fashionista extraordinaire Maria Fusco she was wearing a Turban with a beautiful jewel right in the middle. I have been looking for one ever since. Prada showed them on the catwalk last season and Kylie caused a tiny stir when she was papped in one but sadly this doesn’t seem to be a trend that’s taking off. Another great style over fashion idea that’s worth logging in the back of the brain. The idea of hiding the hair, adding jewels and a pair of sunglasses looks to me like the height of glamour. Now to buy one somewhere…. ? The only place I could find some (dodgy) ones was on the website The Find. I’ll have to ask Maria when we meet for coffee next.
When I asked my darling friend the glamorous, generous and oh so stylish Maria Fusco to judge the competition I thought it would take a few minutes and be a doddle to pick the winners. The Style Test competition which I ran all last week with Lady Umbrella brought in lots of entries many of which were packed full of fantastic suggestions on ways to style a T-Shirt (not an obvious choice) for Christmas Day. Maria tells me she took ages over her deliberations (thanks darling!) and so I’m announcing the winners.
1st Prize goes to the Style Strutter who wins a Lady Umbrella T-Shirt of her choice
2nd Prize goes to Jessica Hart who wins a gorgeous Lady Umbrella Canvas Shopper
